Jupiter sera toujours plus visible. Il se lèvera à 22h25 UTC le 1er janvier et à 20h22 UTC le 31 janvier. A gauche est reportée l'élongation ( en rayon de Jupiter ) de ses Satellites Galiléens depuis Jupiter. L'animation de droite montre le mouvement des Satellites Galiléens pour le mois de janvier: Io ( I ), Europe ( II ), Ganymède ( III ) et Callisto ( IV ). Remarquez aussi l'évolution de l'atmosphère de Jupiter.
Saturne sera observable avant l'aube. Il se lève à 05:24 UTC le 1er janvier, et à 03h40 UTC le 31 janvier.
A gauche est reportée l'élongation ( en rayon de Saturne ) des satellites de la Planète aux Anneaux, à droite est représentée leur positions au 15 janvier. Mimas ( I ), Encelade ( II ), Tethis ( III ), Dione ( IV ), Rhea ( V ), Titan ( VI ).
Les Hyades, le V de la tête du Taureau, est l'amas ouvert le plus proche du Soleil, puisque se situe à seulement 150 a.l., et il est âgé de 650 millions d'années environ. Par son extensions de 330', l'instrument idéal pour l'observer est la jumelle, que permet de voir l'amas dans son intégralité. Il est constitué d'étoiles à forte métallicité, dont le plus lumineuses portent la lettre de Bayern (γ, δ, ε, θ Tau) et sont des géantes oranges. M44 et les Hyades ont le même âge, le même mouvement propre et même métallicité et les scientifiques soupçonnent qu'il se sont formés dans la même région de la Galaxie. Aldébaran, l’œil du Taureau, ne fait pas partie de l'amas.
La comète C/2013 US10 (Catalina), découverte le 31 octobre 2013 dal Catalina Sky Survey, est visible à l'œil nu depuis septembre 2015. Dans l'hémisphère Nord sa visibilité s'améliore de plus en plus et la comète sera circumpolaire à partir du 12 janvier. Le 17 elle sera à 0.7247 UA de la Terre, sa distance minimale. Avec un'excentricité de 1.000322, donc avec un'orbite hyperbolique, la comète Catalina est destiné à s'éloigner définitivement du Soleil pour ne plus y retourner. Donc profites-on!
